Gift of Caring
Do you know someone who would like to support Girl Scouting but for dietary or other reasons, cannot eat Girl Scout cookies? Let them know that they can purchase "Gift of Caring" cookies. The "Gift of Caring" program is also a great way to convince people to buy after they have already purchased cookies from someone else.

Customers can support two groups - Girl Scouts and the group receiving the cookies - all with one purchase. The Gift of Caring program is one more way for Girl Scouts to reach out to other charities in our area.

"Gift of Caring" cookies count towards individual girl awards and troop earnings.

How the program works:

Before the cookie sale starts, each troop decides which charitable organization they would like to visit and deliver Girl Scout cookies to (food bank, military troops via Operation Shoebox, S.H.I.P., women's/children's shelters, etc.). Be sure to contact the organization in advance.

A Gift of Caring card is then attached to the front of the girl order forms showing customers the name of the organization the troop will visit and deliver cookies to.

While order taking, each girl will ask her customers if they would like to purchase an additional box of cookies for that troop's chosen charity. She can explain that this is a Girl Scout community service project and show customers the "Gift of Caring" card.
  • A "Cookie Share" column has been added to the order card (to the left of the first cookie variety column) for the "Gift of Caring" packages.
  • Each customer may write in the number of packages they wish to purchase for donation by entering a number in the "Cookie Share" column on the same line as their own order.
  • Each troop will add up the total number of "Gift of Caring" packages for all girls in the troop and then convert that total into their troop "Gift of Caring" order. The troop selects the varieties. Those figures are entered on the "Cookie Share" line at the bottom of the T-1 form.
  • When the troop receives their cookies, all of the "Gift of Caring" packages would then be separated from customer orders.
  • Each girl would collect the money for customer orders and "Gift of Caring" cookies when delivering to customers.
  • Each troop would then deliver the "Gift of Caring" cookies to their chosen charitable organization; meeting with the people they chose to help. Be sure to take the Gift of Caring Troop Report with you for completion.
  • Troops that participate in the "Gift of Caring" program may purchase Ready, Set, Go! Share! patches. Patches are ordered on the Gift of Caring Troop Report and should be turned in with the troop's cookie payment with a separate check.
