Washington Rock Trip Guidelines

Before planning any trip, obtain the Troop Travel Packet at the Council Service Center or on the GSWRC Web site.

  1. As with all aspects of the Girl Scout Program girl/adult planning is the key to a successful activity. Ensure that the girls have played a role in selecting the activity/trip as well as participated in making arrangements and preparations.
  2. Progression and the girls' readiness should be considered with all trips and events. Leaders should review...
    • Safety Wise "Planning Trips with Girls" and "Activity Checkpoints"
    • Girl Scout Basic Insurance Coverage Brochure
    • Policies and Procedures of GSWRC
  3. The completed Trip Application Day or Overnight and Troop Roster must be submitted to the Service Unit Manager or designee for approval.
  4. Distribute the trip/activity information to the parents in a timely manner to get written permission for each girl to participate. If the trip is extended (overnight or a considerable distance) it is a good idea to have a parents meeting to discuss all the details and answer questions.
  5. Troops/Groups must have at least one person currently certified in First Aid and C.P.R. with them on all events, trips and activities and must remain with the troop for the entire event.
  6. If the trip/activity requires the leasing of any vehicles, review the guidelines outlined in the GSWRC Guidelines to Leasing Charter Vehicles.

If you have questions about planning your trip, activity or event, contact your Service Unit Manager, designee or Membership Specialist at the Service Center at 908/232-3236.
