Fit and Fun is an exciting sport and fitness project for girls ages 9 to 11. Fit and Fun
has 10 different skill sets. The skill sets are: jumping rope, fitness fun, throwing and
catching, kicking, volleying, striking with a racquet, batting, striking with a stick,
dribbling and passing, and teambuilding. Girls can use the skills learned in Fit and Fun
to play sports like tennis, softball, track and field, basketball, and soccer and/or to learn
fitness basics that can last a lifetime.
Within each skill set there are several activity cards. The first Fit and Fun activity
cards in most skills sets is a skill review card. The skill is broken down step by step with
illustrations and verbal cues. Once girls feel comfortable with the introductory skill they are
ready to progress through the skill set. Each skill set moves from simple activities to more
difficult ones. This gives girls the opportunity to rehearse and refine the skill. These cards
are designed for use throughout the entire troop/group year.
In addition to the activity cards, there is a leader's guide and a participatory patch. Both
the leader's guide and the necessary equipment to complete this program are available to borrow
from the council.
Check with the Council's shop, Patches Plus, for availability of patch.
