United Way Patch

United Way patch The purpose of this patch is to discover the activities of the United Way and its agencies and to provide service as active partners in the community. All levels can earn the patch which is FREE to Rolling Hills troops and available in the council shop.

Suggested activities: Your troop may do any number of requirements, we ask that you do Activity #6.
1. Research the history of your United Way to discover the following:
  1. date of origin
  2. purpose of organization
  3. any name changes
  4. current year's campaign goal
  5. how the United Way operates
2. The United Way symbol is well known. What does it symbolize? Has this always been the symbol used by the United Way?
3. Review the list of United Way agencies in your area. Discuss the services they provide and how these services affect your community.
4. Contact your local United Way office to request available information and/or audiovisual tapes.
5. Choose one United Way member agency to visit. Learn something about the services the volunteers provide there.
6. Volunteer troop time to provide a service for at least one United Way agency.
