| Preparation: |
Before the ceremony, each girl is given a piece of 8 ½" x 11"
paper on which she writes a goal that she has for her future. Then follow directions for
making Friendship Boats.

Everyone can sing "Barges" (page 96 Sing Together) |
| Main Part: |
An original prayer written by the girls for the safety of their little
boats on their journey can be said. |
| Closing: |
Girls light their boat candle from leader's candle and place their boats
in the water one at a time. Can sing "Candle on the Water" from Pete's Dragon or
play it on a tape in the background. All stand for a minute of silence to think about their
goals while watching their boats float away. |

To share a secret or wish with or for a new or old friend |
| Place: |
Beside a lake, pond, river or pool. |
| Who's Invited: |
Other troops or just your own group |
| When: |
At dusk |
Friendship boats can be made like above directions OR with a
large leaf, a twig and a smaller leaf. The large leaf is your hull, and the twig interlaced
in the smaller leaf is the sail. Make a wish, secret or aloud, for a friend, your troop or
the world, and one by one send the boats into the water. The same could be done with bark
and a candle.
