Blood Drive Service Project

Partnering to Save Lives

Bonnie Kirpan of the New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS) will work with any troop, service unit or older Girl Scout that wishes to run a blood drive in their community. Troops can organize a blood drive together to earn the Inchworm of Service, the Cadette or Senior Service Bar, or the Cadette and Senior Leadership Award. A blood drive is also a wonderful Gold or Silver Award project that will directly benefit the community.

What you need to know:

  1. Bonnie from the New Jersey Blood Services will work with each service unit, troop or older Girl Scout to set a plan of action.
  2. The Girl Scouts will be educated on the Who, What, Where, Why and How of blood.
  3. Educational materials will be provided by NJBS and workshops, tours or meetings can be arranged.
  4. NJBS will assist in recruiting blood donors (they provide mailings and telemarketing).
  5. Recruiting materials (posters, flyers, brochures) will be provided to your service unit or troop.
  6. Learn about the responsibilities and role for a blood drive.
