Girl Scouts of Rolling Hills Council: Operation Shoebox

A broad-based network of volunteers and organizations has come together under the banner of "Operation Shoebox -- New Jersey" to show its support for United States armed forces personnel deployed overseas as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rolling Hills Girl Scouts are helping this effort, too!
Items, letters and photographs are being packaged and shipped to United States armed forces personnel deployed in:

Iraq/Kuwait
Other locations in the Middle East
Afghanistan
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

Requested Items
The following items are requested by our troops overseas.
All donated items must be in their original packaging.

Batteries (any size)
Bug spray (PUMP ONLY - NO AEROSOL)
Sun block
Bars of soap
Small bottles of shampoo
Deodorant (non-aerosol)
Moist wipes (travel size)
Cereal/protein bars
Powdered drink mixes
Hard candy/gum
Lip balm
Instant oatmeal - individual packets
Packets of hot chocolate
Small cans of tuna with pop-tops
Small cans of fruit with pop-tops
Small boxes of cereal
Microwave popcorn - individual bags
Snack food - small bags of pretzels, trail mix, peanuts
Athletic socks

Letters and Cards
In addition, girls are needed to write letters and cards that will be sent with each of the packages shipped to military personnel. Please remember first names only! Younger scouts can color pictures or create patriotic art objects to accompany each package.

Drop-Off Locations
We will have a collection box in the lobby at the Council Service Center for the donations but there are other sites for drop-off also. Please check the Operation Shoebox NJ site for the latest list of those locations:
