![]() Profile of a Volunteer I'd like to volunteer. |
In today's fast-paced world many women and men have a job outside the home or have limited free time. Girl Scouts recognizes the need for flexibility and encourages troops to meet when it's convenient for the leaders. How often you meet, how long and where is up to you.
Many Girl Scout volunteers don't have any children. The woman who founded Girl Scouting, Juliette Low, had no children of her own, but she felt that every girl should have a chance to benefit from what the Girl Scout program had to offer.
The Girl Scout program is diverse and adaptable. Whether your forte is sewing, computers or hiking, there are activities where you can use your talents. In addition to the skills you already possess, the Girl Scouts of Rolling Hills Council provides free training in a wide variety of areas so that you can learn as you teach the girls.
In addition to troop leaders, volunteers are needed to fill the many support positions that help make Girl Scouting possible. A Service Unit Team organizes troops, establishes goals, and ensures that the benefits of the Girl Scout program are guaranteed to every girl.
Join the Girl Scouts as an adult volunteer. Whether you work directly with the girls, support troop activities by sharing a special skill or experience, or work directly with fellow adults on the Service Unit Team, you can help inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service that they may become happy and resourceful citizens.
Complete the Volunteer Interest Form and we'll tell you more about how you can help the Girl Scouts.
