Great Adventures in History
Day 4 - July 24, 2001

Hunterdon County, NJ

We visited Hunterdon Historical Museum, Clinton, NJ, and toured their authentic Nineteenth Century buildings.  We wove baskets like they did in Colonial times and gained a better understanding of the workings of an early American community.  It was a hot day, so we were happy to relax and splash in tubes at Phillipsburg River Outpost on the Delaware.

Our guide, Ann, tells us about the history of the area.

The general store where you could order from the Sears Roebuck catalog, barter tomatoes for a live chicken or drink coffee and gossip by the stove.
