Deborah A. Beiter, M.D. Family Practice Somerset Medical Center Dr. Deborah Beiter is committed to women’s health, particularly for women in Somerset County. After earning a medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo, serving a residency program in Family Practice at Niagara Falls Medical Center and practicing medicine for three years in Rochester, New York, Deborah began a long and illustrious career in Somerset County. For twelve years she has served as Assistant and then Associate Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at Somerset Medical Center, coordinating the training of over 80 physicians in women’s health. Devoted to women’s health, Dr. Beiter has spearheaded programs aimed at the evaluation, early intervention and treatment in the areas of osteoporosis, breast health and cardiac risk assessment. In addition to these Medical Center programs, Deborah is an active member of the Medical Advisory Board of Women’s Health and Counseling Service in Somerville. She has lectured locally on such issues as mid-life transitions and breast health. You may have read several of her articles on women’s health in The Courier News, The Star Ledger or The New Jersey Monthly. She serves on both the Board of Trustees and the Women’s Advisory Board of the Medical Center and has appeared on the Rosie O’Donnell show to promote breast cancer screening. Perhaps she is appreciated most by the more than 750 plus babies she has delivered, as well as their mothers, dads and siblings. The benefit of her work endures in their lives as well as all the lives of women in our area because of her dedication and work to improve their health. Dr. Beiter is married to Jeff Smock and has one stepson. |
