Jean Garzillo Aventis Pharmaceuticals Jean Garzillo has been a leader and active participant in the field of community service for the past 30 years. Through her unbridled energy and passionate commitment to community outreach, she serves as both a model and inspiration to colleagues and friends at Aventis Pharmaceuticals, where she has worked since 1982, and on her home turf of Bridgewater Township and Somerset County. At Aventis, she has spearheaded many of the company’s volunteer initiatives. As co-chair of the Volunteerism Committee, she has coordinated the annual United Way “Over the Rainbow” campaign, which provides needy children with clothing and other essential items during the school year. She also coordinated the Home Delivered Meals program for Aventis. Jean plays a key role in the Aventis and United Way Week of Caring activities. Her role in coordinating the annual Christmas Project for the company’s Bridgewater site has provided gifts to countless numbers of disadvantaged children and their families over the years. She has co-chaired the company’s Volunteerism Committee and, in 1999, was the company nominee for the United Way STAR Awards, a special celebration to acknowledge individuals who exemplify the essence of volunteerism. Outside of work, Jean maintains the same extraordinary level of public involvement, driven in no small part by the influence of her mother, who steadfastly encouraged her four children to ‘give back’ to others in the community. For Jean, that has meant serving as a board member for the Somerset County Adult Day Care Center. She has also been an assistant Girl Scout leader in Bridgewater, and continues to work alongside third graders in her community as an active member of the Junior Achievement Program. Jean has also volunteered at the Somerset Medical Center, and is a past president of the Washington Valley Garden Club. At Aventis, a global pharmaceutical company, Jean is Senior Administrative Assistant to the Director of Global Commercial Operations Controlling. She earned her B.A. from Rider College in Lawrenceville. Jean resides in Bridgewater with her husband of 44 years, Marcellus. The couple has a grown daughter and a grandchild. |
